Santam has lost a client for life
Good afternoon,<br> My father was in an accident on the 19 Feb 2015, where a drunk driver drove into him. We acquired a affidavit from the driver that he was willing to pay for the damage to the vehicle which we submitted to the broker. We requested that the assessor come out and when he did his first assessment said that the diff was not to be replaced. Once my dad removed the wheels he saw that the diff and other mag were damaged. He said that he cannot put all the damage in as the vehicle will be written off and go to auction. We agreed to pay the balance so that the vehicle not be written off. The damage to the vehicle was approximately 33,000.00 where santam only paid out R16,900.00 after deducting the access. The reasoning behind this all is that the vehicles book value is R44K.No they have removed the vehicle off the insurance and require a road worthy test to be done before they can add it to the insurance. We have never claimed for this vehicle this was our first claim on this vehicle.the accident was not his fault the other driver doesn't have insurance and we have to beg so that we can get some of the money back for the damage.WHY DO WE PAY INSURANCE THEN?
