SANTAM FAILING TO FINALIZE REFUND OF EXCESS!

There were 2 motor vehicle accidents that occurred on separate occasions and they were caused by the third parties. The first accident a car crashed into our car as the vehicle was approaching a hump and the second accident a taxi driver overtook out car whilst we our car was overtaking which forced out car to push the vehicle on the left.

On both claims I have paid Excess however it's more than a year without receiving our excess back from the santam. Both excesses amount to R8000 and was gotten from a credit facility as such SANTAM has inconvenienced us big time.

We have been making follow ups and we kept being referred to someone who is rude and not helpful and he also refers us further.

I am disappointed in santam and to think I have recruited the whole family to join santam and all our vehicles are insured with them fromore than 5 years!

Good day,

Just note as contractually obliged you are liable for the first amount payable, your excess, on each and every claim.
Even if you were not the negligent party, contractually you are bound and need to comply with the policy contract and it's stipulations.

However our legal departments will be everything in it's power to do a successful recovery as it is in Santam's best interest as well to recover the costs we incurred on these claims.
But there are various factors that could hamper the recovery, such as third party not cooperating, his/her insurer refuting liability, the third party not in a financial position to be able  to pay back the costs or the third party is untraceable.

As noted we will request our legal teams for updates on these matters.

Kind regards
Client care

This is the exact feedback we've been getting for more than a year.

Obviously we know as per contract we should pay the excess but it must be recovered because the drivers who caused the accidents are liable for not following the traffic laws.

Almost week without any feedback.

Santam is saying it is not cost effective to pursue a reimbur*****t from a person who caused an accident, who nearly killed 2 families and on top of that we have a dash cam footage of the incident with the registration number of the vehicle. Now that's unexpected from SANTAM!

Still awaiting feedback for the second claim. They say they can't find the person on the phone. The whole resourceful entity can't find someone who was insured at the time of the accident. The third-party cover for that person should cover the claimed amount and the excess.

Still awaiting feedback!

After 2 years santam still failed to resolve this matter. Their legal department are useless. It was nice taking premiums every month for 5 years but fail to satisfy your obligations.

Still disappointed!
