We are insured customers of Santam for 16 years. All our businesses, house and cars are insured with Santam. On the 4th of November my Land Rover Defender was in a serious car accident on my way home from hospital where I went to see a patient. The airbags deployed the radiator and front part of the engine was damaged. The Santam appointed accessor first claimed my husband was part of a syndicate that wanted the car to be a write of. After a month of deliberation the car was not a write of and repairs started at a Santam Appointed panel beater.
After five months of waiting STILL NO CAR. Although the car was at the panel beater we had no curtesy car, no monthly premium save of R12000. Even though the car could not move and was on a lift we had to pay our full premium and a rental car so I as an orthopedic specialist could perform my work at hospitals. Our total cost in Rental expenses was R60000 - I got my Defender on the 25th of April I got my car back. Dirty with no car mats that was previously there.
After one 30km drive the warning lights came on saying the emergency braking and emergency steering is not available. The car did not want to reverse or go in any other gear.
What should I do. Santam’s legal department has been contacted by me in March and still this is the outcome. I AM TRULY DISAPPOINTED JUST WANT TO KNOW WHO SCORED IN THIS DEAL?
