Santam cost me instead of me benefiting from being insured with them.

The worst insurance experience ever - Santam. The past year has been a terrible one and did I depend on the insurer to lighten the burden. My car was hit by a stray *** one night. The insurance and panelbeaters whipped up a claim so high (R85,000) that they wanted to write a car off for a bashed bumper, fender, bonnet and headlight. Eventually I settled for 50% payout and repaired it myself. Then I had to stay temporarily in a house waiting for my house transfer and was ****** of possesions in that house to the value of about R15,000. Again Santam refuse to pay and when I said but at least look at the laptop they said no that is another option costing an arm and a leg in premiums if you want that. Recently, I asked my son who is 26 years and had his licence for longer than 5 years to do something for me using my car. Whilst turning right with indicators on, a delivery motor cyclist past him on a white line and slammed into the door. The latest is that I now have to pay excess of R3500 because he is not the assigned driver. I pay insurance on the car to cove the car not my son for goodness sake. And why is Santam not doing their job and getting it from the 3rd party that was in the wrong. So even if you are right at Santam you are wrong? Santam has now cost me R61,000 this past year instead of me benefiting from insuring with them. Stay away and shop around is my advice.
