Santam Claims Deficiency
A water leak at the mixer of a shower at our holiday home resulted into moisture damage to the exterior wall of the shower. Being during the holiday season, a local contractor investigated and submitted a quote for repairs. The broker from Delmas, Delkor, gave telephonic authorization to proceed with repairs by the contractor. The leak was discovered to be at the mixer, behind the shower tiles. Tiles had to be removed to repair and as no matching tiles were available, the bottom half of the shower had to be re tilled, with something very similar. The damp wall had to be treated and repainted. The value of the total clam amounts to R5769. Of this amount, Santam refunded a mere R627, the partial quote for Damp damage repairs. The quote for tile demolition & removal (R965) Leak repair (R850) Tiling installation 6 sq m (R2295) Painting (R432) and contractors transport (R600) was totally ignored! And the feedback from the broker, was not any better.
