Santam "Always looking for a reason not to pay out"

I was involved in an accident in the early hours of sunday morning 12th March 2017. I then called my Insurance company Santam to register a claim and I was given a claim number: ********** 20. Police were on the scene and took my statement. Santam then appointed an external Assersor from EOH by the name of Michael Schimper to investigate if I had a valid claim. Apparently an accident accumalates points based on a number of factors, mine was that the accident happened over the weekend and the early hours so that is why it was referred to EOH.

On the 27th of March (two weeks after the accident) I met with Michael and we had an interview. During the interview it was clear that his only mandate was to come and prove that I was under the influence during the accident, he kept asking leading questions in regards to the amount of liquour me and my passengers had drank even though I had told him that we didn't drink and the accident report did concur with that staement. He asked about the previous day of the accident which was a saturday and I told him to the best of my memory what I could remember including time frames. He then asked for my tracking logsheet as I had a tracker installed and I sent him the logsheets. I had forgotten some of the trips ( for instance I forgot to mention I went to pick up my girlfriend that saturday morning from UOFS ) and the time frames were not consistent to what I had said. He made a big issue out of that saying I had something to hide. He then tried to threaten me by saying he will send my report as is to Santam with inconsistent information if I didn't tell him why the time frames were different to what I had told him. I told him to send the report because what I told him was to the best of my memory and I had nothing to hide. I later found out that he had advised Santam not ot pay out because somehow I was not honest.

During all this time I am calling Santam almost everyday with no feedback what so ever from their side, the internal assesor from Santam Carel Reichel has not even told me if my car is going to be fixed or its a rightoff or what. On thursday 13 April 2017 I went to Santam and Spoke to Pieter Henning, I told him my Story and was told that the claims commitee would meet on tuesday 18 April 2017 to discuss my case and others. he promiosed to call me on thursday but did not.

Today 19 April 2017 I called Santam again and I am yet to know the status of my claim, if it is valid or not according to Santam. I was told today 19 April 2017 that the claims committe had met and sent the claim back to Michael for further information on why the claim should not be taken as valid as he has advised. Its been a month and small change since I first claimed from Santam and it doesn't look like this chapter will be closing soon.

Good day Kurt
Thank you for taking the time to go through my compliant, just after I decided to post my frustrations on HelloPeter I got a call from Santam saying my claim will be paid out. I'm now waiting for the assessor to get back to me tomorrow morning.
Kind Regards
