Refusal to Settle

After a break in at my home in mid-December Santam are refusing to pay out as I do not have security gates at my exterior doors. When my brokers changed to Santam last year I did advise them that I don't have security gates. Santam never instructed me to install gates, refuse cover or increased premiums. They were very happy to take my premiums each month knowing they would not pay out. I have lived in the same house for 27 years and this is the first burglary claim ever. It is not a high-risk area. I will be taking this matter further. Santam has not supported me when I needed it despite a contract to say they will. The assessor confirmed I was not under-insured so I suppose this is their only excuse to not pay. I feel cheated.
