Poor Service, Super Slow Process

I was involved in accident on the 4th of February 2017. I contacted my insurer within minutes of the incident to report it. The response was very quick and my car was towed away to Renew-It Randburg on the same day. After that, the service became hellish. I had to contact Santam daily to find out what the next step in the process is as I had never claimed before.

I had the details of the 3rd party who bumped into my vehicle, I had filed an accident report and the works. Each time they told me they'll be in touch. Eventually after days of following, the 3rd party's details were requested from me and the claim was processed. Once again, I had to follow up on what the next step is and I was told an assessor needs to be sent out to assess the extent of the damage and they are awaiting a quotation from Renew-It Randburg. I took it upon myself to contact Renew-It Randburg and asked them to urgently forward a quotation. To my surprise, they informed me that they were waiting for some document from Santam in order to process the quotation. So I had to go back to Santam and ask them to send through that required document. Eventually after days the quaotation was done and an assessor was sent.

Days passed and I did not know whether my vehicle was being repaird, whether there's anything required on my side etc. I called Santam and they told me they're waiting for a report from the assessor. Once again, I took it upon myself to contact the assessor to request the document. He eventually sent it to Santam after days and my repairs were authorised on the 16th of February 2017 (12 days after my accident!). Since then I've been having issues with Renew-It Randburg as it is just 2 days short of a month since they've had my vehicle. I contacted Santam to inform them of these issues and they referred me to a lady named Glady Nthoba.

I contacted Gladys to inform her of the issues as I am moving to Cape Town in the next few weeks and need to move out of my apartment as well by next week. Not very helpful! All in all, I basically have to wait until Lord knows when Renew-it Randburg finishes the repairs. I'm very upset that at every step of the process I've had to do Santam's job of following up on the quotation, sending an assessor, getting a report from the assessor etc. It is gross incompetence on their part.

I will never recommend Santam to anyone!
