Policy cancelled 6 days before commencement but debit order will go off according to Santam

I accepted a policy with Santam to commence on the 1st of March 2020. My current insurer matched the premium offered by Santam and have already debitted me.

I called Santam today to have my commencement date moved to a later date in March as I already have cover in place.

The lady says to me unfortunately she cannot change the debit order date to a later date. She then confirms with her manager that my account will be debitted on the 1st of March and they cannot ammend the date on their side.

Today is the 24th of February, how the hell can you not change a debit order date that's set for the 1st of March!

I eventually cancelled my policy and I am still going to debitted by you Santam and I must either wait 21 days for a refund from you or go to my bank to reverse the transaction which will cost me R200 whilst you earn interest on my funds for 21 days.

Will not recommend Santam.
