Paying dearly for Santam's mistake :-(
I am very disappointed with the way Santam has handled my Debit Order date. I called in, in June to move my Debit Order date to the 28th (because I was getting paid on this day). Santam went on to Debit me on the 27th, my Debit Order bounced. I was then told I had to wait for the following month. They then went on to Debit me on the 30th (besides specifying it had to happen on the 28th), I incurred two missed Debits & now my Policy will / has been cancelled. It's not fair when I have to suffer because a Santam agent choose not to do her job properly. Please can someone rectify what's happening? I can't afford to loose my policy!!! Thank you
Good afternoon Trevor,
We thank you for your post above. We do apologise for any inconvenience this has caused you.
Unfortunately the debit order run for end of June had already been concluded when you contacted us to have the debit order date amended from the 27th to the 28th of each month. We then tried deducting on the 27th of June but was unfortunately not successful, thus resulting in an unpaid debit for end June, for cover for the month of July.
We can confirm that the debit order date had been amended to the 28th of every month. The reason why we only requested/collected on the 30th of July was because the 28th fell over a weekend. If your debit order date as noted on the system, falls on a weekend or public holiday, Santam will only request/collect the first working day thereafter, thus the 30th in this instance. We have requested the unpaid premium end of June for July cover, as well as the premium for cover August 2018.
Your policy is still active, so you please just need to ensure you have enough funds available for a double debit.
Please advise if there were not enough funds available now to cover the double debit?
If you do receive a letter notifying you of the cancellation of your policy, then we would recommend you contact your broker, Rand Pro on *** for any assistance.
Trust you find the above in order?
Kind regards.
