Pathetic Service
I have used Santam Insurance since June 2018. I have insured 4 vehicles with them and had no issues with them in the beginning because they were getting paid on time. One of my vehicles was involved in an accident in December 2018 were my husband was the driver. The accident was reported to Santam within 24 hours of the accident. It is now going on 6 months and the claim has not been finalised. After the accident my vehicle was towed to the towing storage facility who was at the scene. About 2 weeks later the field assessor that was appointed contacted me and said he's investigation will take about 2 weeks and then the claim will be finalised. He had the case with him for almost 2 months going back and fourth to the accident scene looking for evidence that my vehicle was in an accident. Eventually he called and says that the damages on my vehicle doesn't correspond to the events of the accident. This to me doesn't make any sense as you cannot go to an accident scene 2 months later looking for tyre marks and flattened grass on the road. Around 3 months later Santam called me saying that they need a high court application to get my car released from the towing yard and moved to a Santam storage facility to have the vehicle re-assessed as advised by Cinzia Gillfillian (Santam representative). After getting the affidavit signed and sent to them i have not received any communication from Santam. They have not advised the outcome of the high court application that was done to have my vehicle moved to a Santam storage facility. Santam refused to furnish me with any further details as to why the claim was rejected. Every time i called Santam i speak to different people and no one knows whats going on with my claim. They promise to look into the matter and call me back however no one calls back. I am now currently paying for a vehicle that is smashed and i have no idea were it it is. On 23 May 2019 all i get is an email stating that my policy with Santam is terminated with no explanation or phone call.

Your high court application request to me was done after i approached the Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance. My reason for approaching the Ombudsman was for the lack of communication and the lack of transparency from Santam regarding my claim. My primary concern right now is the location of my vehicle as i do not know where it is. The Santam representative who called me in regards to the high court application advised that once they have approval from the court to get my vehicle uplifted she will then further keep me updated as to where my vehicle will be moved to, however to date i have not received a single phone call or email from Santam after i have submitted the affidavit to them. The location of my vehicle is not the issue that i raised with the Ombudsman. As per the Ombudsman's instruction the high court application for the upliftment of the vehicle from the initial storage facility to a Santam approved storage facility is a matter between me and Santam. So i humbly request transparency in the location and return of my vehicle from Santam.
