On Tuesday, 14th of January, I was involved in a car accident (SAPS vehicle jumped a stop sign and ended up colliding with me. On the 15th of January, a claim was submitted to my insurer (if you can call them that) and my car was subsequently towed to have the vehicle repaired, the exact same day. Service was professional and courteous and I thought I was in good hands (WRONG). I was provided with initial time lines, which was 5 working days and that it would have been sent to an assessor, to give the Repairers the go ahead, to commence. In short, authorization was only given on 3 February, to have the vehicle repaired. I do not have car hire and I am well aware of that. So constant follow ups with the panelbeaters, I get the same response, we are awaiting parts from VW and we do not have and ETA. Numerous e-mails and calls to Santam, to see if I can be accommodated for car hire (which I indicated that I was willing to pay for), was basically ignored and was referred to T's and C's (which I understand to a certain extent). Today is the 3rd of March and the Panelbeaters are still awaiting parts, to have my car repaired. My main issue is, Santam is just shrugging their shoulders and passing the buck. Meanwhile they can debit my bank account for an insurance premium. Maybe I was naïve, to believe that there is actually an insurance company that has common sense and that actually is interested in their clients wellbeing. Silly me.
