Generic car windscreens fitted by insurance
After the second attempt to get a windscreen replaced for an original RAV4 windscreen, SANTAM managed to instruct the supplier to give a generic one, although my broker requested an original one. The generic, a Benmore windscreen, made in China, has distortions so bad, that you cannot drive a vehicle properly. This happened twice now. My question is - how many vehicles on South African roads have these windscreens fitted? They are a danger to anybody on the road, including the driver of the vehicle. If you have a generic ( low cost, so the insurance saves on the excess to be paid ), make sure, that your windscreen is clear of distortions.
