Disappointed and Let Down After Years of Loyalty to Santam
I have been a loyal Santam client since 2020, insuring my vehicle under what I believed to be comprehensive cover. Recently, I experienced an attempted theft of my car, which resulted in damage to the locking system.
I logged a claim expecting the support and coverage I've been paying for over the past 4+ years. To my shock, Santam refused to pay the full amount of the claim—which was less than R5,500. I was told by Buntu Gontsana, the Direct Merit Accident Desktop Assessor, that “you will have to cover the rest.”
This has left me both financially burdened and emotionally drained. I find it unacceptable that a comprehensive policy does not fully cover such a basic and straightforward claim. Why pay monthly premiums if, in your time of need, you are left to carry the cost on your own?
This entire experience has been frustrating, disheartening, and has left me feeling betrayed as a long-standing client. I expected more from a reputable insurer like Santam.
