Defy Cookerhood

My Defy cooker hood is not working, logged the fault with Santam as I was under the impression it was insured under home contents, They always request a fault report so I paid an electrician to come out and asses the device. Nothing was even asked when I signed up with the insurance if it was it attached to the building and now the device is faulty.
