I have been submitted a claim for a inverter that packed up due to Load shedding and my CPAP machine and a UPS and the cost for the following is Inverter - R51000 UPS - R4600 CPAP machine - R12500

They are only perpared to pay out for the inverter + 4 batteries (Gel) R9000 The others nothing
I have been paying my account monthly and I see this as part of the structure of the building. they are now throwing out values that they only pay out R9000 for power surges.
I have install a host of power surge protectors (Inverter and 4 UPS) but yet that is not good enough. The assesor said that I am lucky to get a payout. My idea is the a short term insurance is suppose to put you in the same positions as before the damages to the house and the equipment to protect all parties.

Santam has confirmed settlement as follow :
- CPAP Machine
- Inverter
insured quotes
Then there is a damage report and a quote from Vital Air dated 17/3/20 and quote = R12450.00
Inverter damage report dated - 23/3/20 - and quote = R51 750 .00
Power surge limit is R10 000
Excess: R1000
=R9000-to insured debit account
The geyser noted the element was faulty,- there is no geyser maintenance cover for this.- also you cant register every claim under one claim number.
