Claim for a written off vehicle

My Yaris was written off in Sep 2014. Santam paid me out for the vehicle and I bought a new vehicle (Kia Rio). My Rio's license disk expired end of Oct 2015.
I went to the post office end of Oct 2015 to renew my license and they told me there is still another vehicle blocking me to renew my current disk. I contact a subcontractor from Santam and asked them to check into this.

They found that Santam never de-registered this written off vehicle. Santam only did the change of ownership end of JAN 2016 when I brought this matter under their attention!

This is now end of Feb 2016, I still cant take out my license because this vehicle has got outstanding license fees - it never showed on the license departments pc that is was a wrote off so i have to pay the license fees of the yaris from 2014 - 2016. And I am so sorry I wont do that! Not my problem!! I went to the post office last week and I still cant get my disk for the Rio because the Yaris is on my profile. I had to pay penalty fees on my Rio, I still haven't received my disk, and if I get pulled over by cops, Santam will see me at their head offices!!!! and pay my fine

Hello leeann.vr,

We thank you for your posting above.

We note you have also posted on Facebook earlier. We have referred your query and concerns to the relevant department who have provided us with the following information.

They have already paid the penalty licence fee to you on the written off vehicle. They have confirmed to have been in contact with the insured yesterday and also discussed the concerns regarding the penalties incurred on the new vehicle when you wanted to renew the licence. They have agreed to enquire from the licence department on what these penalty fees are and they will gladly reimburse you that costs.
The vehicle had been dealerstocked into Santam's name now and we do apologise for the frustration and inconvenience this had caused you.

Thank you and kind regards.
