Claim Assesments
I am very unhappy with the service I have received from Santam. On 11 September 2023 I emailed Santam to advise them that I was having problems with my TV. On 15 September I sent a follow up as I had no feedback . My TV was then returned to me in the same condition from Digicall and I was told that I needed to use another HDMI cable as they could not pick up any faults. I advised both Digicall and Santam that I do not make use of any HDMI cables and told them that I will monitor the TV and send them pictures of the problem I am having. The picture quality started deteriorating more by the day. On 2 October 2023 then sent video and images as proof to show Santam what the problem was. My TV was then collected for a second time from Digicall and returned to me in an even worse condition. I was told by the Digicall assessors that there is a problem with the lighting and the motherboard of the TV. I was advised by the assessor that they had sent a report to Santam, and as they did not received feedback , they are returning my TV. I contacted the insurer who advised they did not receive a report and they were going to follow up. The same day after my TV was returned from the Digicall , it stopped working completely! Santam then rejected my claim and advised it was “wear and tear” (for a TV I purchased in early 2020). I was not happy with this feedback and requested that the matter be escalated. It was then rejected by the claims committee again. I am now sitting without a TV as I am not able to purchase a new one. This is not my first encounter with SANTAM where they reject claims, and it does seem that it is beginning to be a trend.
