Be Warned, Santam Fine-Print.
Good Day We have been with Santam for a very long time, but they always say, your Insurance Company is only as good as your first claim. My wife retuned from Sabie on a Sunday afternoon, parked in front of our home and while she was busy off-loading her vehicle, her laptop bag went missing out of the vehicle, with a few items inside like, laptop, tablet, reading glasses and external hard drive. It was very strange, because we stay in a well secure complex with 24 hour guards, but it happened. I phoned and reported it to the Santam broker (Fisher Dugmore & Associates) whereby Erna Koekemoer ensured us that there should be no problem for Santam to settle the claim because the laptop and tablet were specified. After obtaining the quotations for the ****** stuff (value only R23 000) and received the police case number, all were mailed to the broker. I had to phone them every time to follow up on the claim and after 4 days, we were told that Wardah Tar from Santam said that they are not going to pay out the claim, because there was no physical damage to the vehicle. It seems that they expect us to take some of our belongings out of the vehicle, place it on the ground, lock the vehicle, pick up our stuff, carry it your house, put the stuff on the floor, unlock your home door, pick up your stuff and carry it into the house. If you go to get the other belongings out of the vehicle, you must go through the some procedure until all your belongings are inside your home. I do not know of anyone that does that, do you? My warning to everyone out there, be very careful to pick Santam as your insurance company, they will take your hard eared money every month, but have a lot of fine print not to settle a claim (does not make any difference how long you are with them or how mush money you have paid over the years to them). It seems like, you must be dishonest to do a claim (which we could not do), because if you are truthful, you always are on the short end of life. Please be warned.
