8 months of the run around

I had a car accident in February 2017 and I claimed through my insurer at the time (Santam). A third party skipped a stop sign and collided into me. I gave Santam the third party's details and even informed them that he stays close to my house should they require any other details. I was told not to worry, they will take care of everything. I've been following on the progress of the claim since February 2017 only to be told in August that they had just served him final letter of demand. I followed up again on 23 October 2017 only to be told on 24 October 2017 by Thembi Vilakazi that the 3rd party's laptop is damaged and does not know when it will be repaired. So in the 8 months that I've been waiting for my excess refund, Santam is not making any means to collect from this third party. I think this type of service is PATHETIC to say the least. It's bad enough that I have to follow up before notices are "sent" to the third party. Is this how all customers/former customers are treated???

Good day sir,

We thank you for your post above. We can understand that you are not happy with the process and lack of response for which we want to apologise.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee that you will be receiving your excess payment back. Our legal department will however do everything in its power to recover not only the excess, but all costs incurred on this claim, including the repairs we paid out for your vehicle, so it will be in our best interest to recover these costs and try our best to be successful.

We will however liaise with our legal branch to get their comments on what has transpired on this claim and the way forward.

We will be in contact again once we have received their comments and feedback.

Thank you and kind regards.
