3rd party accident claims nightmare

Good day 3rd party claims are a nightmare to deal with when it comes to Santam. Absolutely useless customer service. Their client knocked my car and all relevant docs were provided. 2 months later they now require another 2 months to investigate. They will never call you or provide you with a managers email or director. They either on leave, off sick or not available at the moment. I have tried every angle and emailed day after day and still no response. When you are not their client you will get no where. I wonder if all claims in this company works this way even if you are their client.

So after the 1st update on the site I then received an email stating that they require 15 workings days in order to investigate. Take into consideration that there are 9 simple questions for them to follow up on in oder to close the investigation. So basically with the a 3rd party claim it becomes so frustrating that eventually you just have to give in and hope for the nest possible outcome even though their client admits it was his fault and he contacted his insurance company. Turn around time looks like a few months.

I will update this site as days and months go on so any 3rd party claims for accidents should know that it is a lengthy process especially if you dont follow up. Good luck with them calling you back or emailing you to provide you with the progress.

  • Accident location ( Inspection in loco), how narrow or wide the road is?
  • Confirm the merits of the accident directly with the insured’s incident driver.
  • To find out if our insured has to pay a portion of the amount toward the claim (Is there any section two excess applicable)?
  • Is the client disputing a third party quantum? / Was the driver furthering his/her own interest or that of an employer?
  • Check if the course and scope of the employment is applicable?
  • Is there any vicarious liability? (Husband and wife, Parent - child, independent contractors, partnership, Employer - Employee)
  • Was s/he driving with the policy holder’s permission?
  • Did s/he had a valid license?
  • Are the premiums paid and up to date

These are the questions that will take 1 - 60 days to sort out.

Just abit of advice anyone dealing with 3rd party claims from the looks of the way this had been dragged out I'm guessing at the moment that it takes anywhere from 4-6 months. In this time Pls be prepared to never receive a call or any updates. You should receive an update once after every 15 emails and then hit a flat spot.

Next update will be on the day I get paid out.

I will provide you guys with the accident date and then the date of payment so you will know how long 3rd party claims take to be processed when dealing with this company.
