Who is liable for the bank charges if I reverse deceased brother in laws money

Let me break it down I have a cover for my partner, 2 daughters, uncle, cousin and late brother in law plus a life cover that I'm considering canceling. OK last week Friday 21 I went to assupol to let them know that my brother in law passed on and I'm fully aware that the policy was not yet matured. I was asked for ID, death certificate and proof of banking details which I submitted. On Monday 24 I saw 2 missed calls from assupol and I called u been send from 1 consultant to the next only to be told that the status of the policy is still active and she will change payment method and I should know that month end a deduction will go off.... OK I do get that she says the system has already requested it. Will you not be liable to refund me as life insured has passed on as I hv notified you. The next thing gets dropped on my ears..... A few minutes later I get a call from assupol saying hv I been assisted with opening a policy and nothing about my problem..... At the back of my head I'm thinking of canceling my policies and go else were
