When Death Becomes You
I belong to Sanlam group policy (Funeral benefits). My husband was shot and killed last year on the 4th of June 2022. I enquired about the funeral benefits for I wanted to use funds to erect a head stone. They gave me the requirements, I had called the police numerous time had received no response in regards to the death report. I asked my nephew to see if he could obtain the report for I had no funds to fly down to Durban. At mid July 2023 I finally get to Durban and enquired whether there's a specific form they have for the police to fill. I received no response. So I went on the website I downloaded the form and it says attach a post mortem. Which quite horrified me , for obtaining a police report is quite disturbing for no you don't want to read it but you want to, and that torn feeling is horrible. And I did tell the lady from Sanlam that last year. But I said it's okay I will prepare myself now when I see attach.post mortem that's **** inhumane. Why is because you are a business entity you can't have Humanity and compassion. Why do we have to go through this. Why can't you get the information for yourself. I'm sitting at the airport terminal looking at all the people around me, and thinking why do people support businesses like is it ignorance or desperation
