Unthetical, Unprofessional and Dissappointing

Appalling, *********, not transparent, unresponsive , ****s and "untouchable" . We have dealing with Obakeng Matsetela ( From Sanlam Corporate) and other service consultants who either have no clue what their doing or have been told to mislead the public for whatever reason. My father passed in July and until now we have not received our claims from these ******* bunch... they keep on requesting for documents that you have sent over and over again and its almost like a broken record even after Obakeng Matsetela has confirmed that she has received documents she will keep quiet for a week and wont even answer our calls and when we finally get through to her via switch board all she will say is there are outstanding documents which i have call recordings and email proof that the required has been sent again and again. today i got the shock of my life to find out that claims are paid after 12 months and when i requested for policy that supports that claim the consultant was clutching for breathe and just babbling - i wonder what happens to those beneficiaries who cant find for themselves and no form of income when their bread winner dies is this how those beneficiaries are treated? i will be taking this to court for the sake of justice of those who cant speak for themselves until we clean out the rot at sanlam. i have since sent the below to Obakeng to educate on whats contained in the insurance Act Insurance Act, 2017 (No. 18 of 2017) This Act regulates the insurance industry in South Africa, ensuring the protection of policyholders and beneficiaries, and ensuring that insurance companies honor claims that are due. Some key features of the Insurance Act, 2017 include:

Policyholder Protection: The Act strengthens the protection of policyholders and ensures they are treated fairly by insurance companies. It requires insurers to conduct their business transparently and to act in good faith when handling claims.

Fair Treatment of Insured: The Act mandates that insurers must be honest and clear in their dealings with the public. Insurers are required to provide clear and understandable terms and conditions for policies and must act fairly when processing claims.

Regulation of Claims: The Act provides a framework for ensuring that insurance companies promptly settle valid claims, thus safeguarding the interests of the insured.

Solvency and Financial Soundness: It also sets rules around the solvency of insurance companies to ensure they have enough capital to pay out claims to policyholders.

Regulatory Authority: The Prudential Authority (part of the South African Reserve Bank) oversees the implementation of the Act, ensuring that insurers comply with the laws and that the financial interests of policyholders are protected.

Financial Sector Regulation Act, 2017 (No. 9 of 2017) This is another important piece of legislation related to insurance in South Africa. It establishes a framework for the regulation and supervision of financial institutions, including insurers, and aims to ensure stability and fairness in the financial sector, including in insurance.

Together, these Acts help protect the public by requiring insurers to act responsibly, be financially stable, and pay out what is due under the terms of the insurance contract. They also provide avenues for policyholders to seek redress if their claims are not paid properly or promptly.

Reviewer Update
Good day,

Obakeng Matsetela (from Sanlam Corporate), with whom I have been having multiple back-and-forths, and the same one who promised to send me an email yesterday with a list of requirements ( which she hasn't done because she knows I have proof that they were submitted), sent an email and provided a number that I should call.

I have called countless times, and she's not picking up her cell phone. I actually have no time to deal with this level of incompetence. My work is demanding, and this exercise that your employees are putting me through is actually draining. I don't know if they want to keep delaying until next year or exhaust me, so I stopped following up on this matter.

My father's employer informed me that there are claims that are a year old and legally and contractually that just don't make sense. please move my matters to someone who's competent, and let's finalize this matter by next week.

Funny enough, one of your service consultants last month informed me that the policy had lapsed—that's when I knew that there was a problem with this company, and the problem goes beyond incompetence.

This is honesty not fair on beneficiaries and you are completely ignoring the provisions of the Act that governs you and the principles of King V.

This is completely exhausting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
