Unpaid Sanlam Shares

My wife got shares at Sanlam that are administered by Computershares. On 8 October 2020, they informed us that they have to pay an amount of R9931.28 to my wife, but they need amongst others, her ID. We forward the documentation on 5 February 2021.

They then made a payment of only R5634.67. On enquiry, they indicated that the rest of the amount has been forfeited and indicated that they have communicated over the years to shareholders to update their information. We did update our information somewhere in 2009/2010 when we moved to Kimberley and since then, they pay my dividends on a yearly basis into my bank account but for several years, they did not pay my wife. When I do an enquiry in 2020, they indicated that they do not have any information of my wife. By saying that, how could they correspond with my wife about the forfeiting and nothing about forfeiting was mentioned in their email dated 8 October 2020.

When they started with these shares several years ago, my wife bought additional shares for R1500, but it just disappeared, and we unfortunately do not have any proof of payment. We assume it was done via the bank, but the bank might not be able to assist.

We are pensioners and my wife do not even get a SASSA allowance, because SASSA indicated I’m receiving a pension and she therefore does not qualify for an allowance.

It will therefore be appreciated if you could instruct Sanlam (Computershares) to pay the outstanding amount of R4 296,61 to my wife.

My wife’s information: Name: Joacoba Johanna Venter ID: *** Postal address: PO Box 110169 Hadison Park Kimberley 8306. Sanlam Shares number: U***
