******** lapse of policies
Member Group Number ***. Scheme Number S016036. On the 23rd of August 2021 we received 2 letters from Safrican. These were received because we made enquiries regarding the 2 policies which are in my sister's name and I am the beneficiary. My sister uses Standard bank for the debit orders of the 2 policies. One of these policies has been made paid up and we acknowledge that. The other policy mentioned above is still in force as per our knowledge The 2 letters were dated 2nd of December 2020 and 2nd of April 2021, meaning that those were the periods ( months that the debit order for the policy smwas was unsuccessful. My question to Safrican is if a debit orders were not received in December 2020 and again on the 2bd of April why was the policy holder not advised accordingly. The policy holder is an earlderly person who doesn't check her bank statement at all. 2nd every other insurance company in the whole world would notify a member/client/policy holder if premiums were not received. Besides the postal services there are other ways of communication. You could have send her an SMS, Called her on her Cell phone (which you have on your records) or even our landline. Everyone is aware that the postal services are not working since the Covid19 Pandemic started last year, why send this 2 letters now in August 2021 via my Gmail after we made enquiries? You cannot lapse once policy without notification beforehand, as an insurer you have to make all means to make sure that a policy holder/ client/ member is advised accordingly before time. Your actions are un constitutional and are robbing people of thier hard earned monies that have been paid already. I am still saying that every company notifies thier clients on time whenever they default, they make sure that thier clients are kept up-to-date with thier premiums. I don't think that the insurance ombudsman will approve of what you did Kindly advise accordingly.
