Transfer of Funds
I'm very angry with Sanlam. In 2012 I changed jobs and asked my then provident fund, KPMG Provident Fund, to transfer my funds to my retirement annuity. I forgot about that, trusting it had all been taken care of. Now I find out that it never happened. I follow up with the administrator, Alexander Forbes. They tell me they tried for years to get Sanlam to return a filled-in Recognition of Transfer, but they never got a response. To prove it, they mail me a copy of the emails to Sanlam.

What this means is I've lost out on 4 years of growth because Sanlam is unprofessional and doesn't care about its clients. We are all just numbers to then. I'm very aggrieved and disappointed.

So last week I call Sanlam to get the transfer to happen. They say a broker will contact me within 48 hours. It's been 7 days. No call. What kind of company is this? Why should I work so hard to give them business?

I feel Sanlam is responsible for my retirement funds being stagnant for four years, so in addition to getting the transfer done immediately, they should provide me recompense. Failing this, I'll be approaching the Pension Funds Adjudicator.
