Thinking of Sanlam for GAP COVER? My advice is to think again...
I have GAP COVER and fear that something is very broken in Sanlam. They seem to be between systems and don't know if they're Arthur or Martha. Having submitted three claims on 7 July and received three reference numbers I phoned today to find their phone operatives cannot see the claims, cannot comment on the progress (which is now way outside their committed payment timeframe) and can only suggest I resend all three claims plus all supporting documents again. They can see something is being worked on but cannot see a treatment date or anything else to help reference it back to my original claims. Being sick is stressful enough without the additional hassles of lengthy telephone calls that get you no-where.... if I could switch Gap Cover providers I would... probably to Old Mutual who my friends tell me are totally on the ball.

I started to receive emails and sms's with reference numbers that were new and tied back to nothing on my files so did nothing to clarify anything. In total during Thursday afternoon I received 16 such messages.
Then Friday I received notification that claims were about to be paid, which ones? Who knew.
Some money was paid on Sunday and some today for claims going back to 26 June BUT there is still a claim dated 3 July that they are struggling to locate. Yesterday I spoke to Prince - and really what a stunning and clued up young man. He listened, understood, clarified a few things, found the lost claim on the old system and 'sent' it across to the new system.... I am extremely hopeful that in a few days this claim will start to be worked on. Hang on to Prince - he is a diamond indeed. Lastly, I submitted a new claim yesterday, within minutes I received a WF reference number, so it would appear that the troubles of last week with emails disappearing into the ether have been solved.... holding thumbs that the worst is over.
