Sanlam Withholding My Provident Fund – No Response!

I left my employer at the end of June 2025 and Sanlam confirmed my exit by issuing a Paid-up Certificate. I submitted all the required forms for my provident fund withdrawal.

It’s now September, and Sanlam has still not paid me a cent or even given me a payment date. I’ve sent multiple emails (15, 18, and 28 August) with all documents attached, and they simply ignore me.

This is my retirement money — not a favour from Sanlam. They have a legal duty to pay out what belongs to me, yet they are holding onto my funds without explanation.

I am forced to escalate this to the Pension Funds Adjudicator and the FSCA because Sanlam is not acting in good faith or within the law.

All I want: Pay my benefit and confirm a date immediately.

This has been going on for over a month and not a single person has made the effort to respond to my emails or calls — I only get automated replies. My employer has NO right to withhold my provident fund withdrawal, and with Sanlam refusing to step in, they are effectively enabling this ******** obstruction. This is my money, contributed by me, yet I have received no payment, no commitment, and no assistance from Sanlam. Until Sanlam provides a clear confirmation that my withdrawal instruction will be processed and gives me a firm payment date, this matter is not resolved.

Sanlam has now had my withdrawal documents since 15 August 2025, and I have been following up repeatedly since then. Despite this HelloPeter complaint and numerous emails, there is still no confirmation, no payment date, and no resolution. I lodged a formal complaint with the Pension Funds Adjudicator in the first week of September. Sanlam will now have to account directly to the regulator for withholding my provident fund benefit. This matter should never have required escalation — Sanlam has a statutory obligation to pay my benefit timeously under the Pension Funds Act. Yet nearly a month later, I am still waiting for money that legally belongs to me. Until Sanlam processes my withdrawal and confirms payment, this issue remains unresolved.
