#Sanlam #UnfairClaims #TreatingCustomersFairly #DelayedPayments

I am extremely disappointed with Sanlam’s handling of my income protection claim (Plan Number: ***X2). Despite clear medical confirmation of my disability, Sanlam continues to impose unnecessary and unfair administrative hurdles, delaying my rightful claim payments.

Key Issues: Unjustified Income Verification Requirements:

Sanlam insists on monthly proof of income loss, despite my disability being medically confirmed. This is an unreasonable administrative burden and contradicts Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles. Misinterpretation of My Financial Transactions:

Payments from Old Mutual are not new income but part of a previous income protection claim. The R210,000 transaction in January 2025 was a fund transfer into an annuity, not income—yet Sanlam is wrongly using this as an excuse to delay my claim. TCF Violation & ********* Practices:

TCF Outcome 1: Unfairly requiring continuous proof of income despite medical confirmation. TCF Outcome 3: Failing to assess the claim based on disability’s financial impact, instead using technicalities to delay or deny payments. TCF Outcome 6: Creating unnecessary barriers that add stress and hardship to an already difficult situation. I have tried to resolve this matter through Sanlam’s internal complaints process, but no fair resolution has been offered. This delay is causing unnecessary financial strain. Sanlam needs to uphold their duty to treat customers fairly and process my claim without further delays.

Requested Action: ✅ Immediate approval and payment of my rightful income protection claim. ✅ Written confirmation that Sanlam will stop imposing unjustified income verification hurdles. ✅ A direct response from a senior Sanlam representative addressing this complaint.

If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will escalate it to the Ombudsman for Long-Term Insurance and regulatory authorities. Sanlam must be held accountable for ********* claims handling and failure to adhere to fair business practices. Sanlam's response to my broker was that feedback will be given by 19/03/2025. So, another MONTH's waiting period.
