SANLAM SKY, A COMPANY OF *******.
Never have I been ********** by an insurance company the way I have been ********** by Sanlam's Sky Division. I closed 2 policies over 2yrs ago due to them being opened *****ulently and I still have not gotten any communication or conclusion as to how the investigation was concluded. I had wanted to consolidate 3 of my existing funeral policies with a broker of theirs by the name of Xolani Mahlangu who is based at the East Rand Mall branch in Ekurhluleni. Mind you, he is the one that approached me and suggested that I consolidate my policies into 1 cheaper policy. I liked the idea, so I decided to go with his suggestion. He came back to my workplace in a few days with forms to replace my old policies with a Sanlam Sky policy. I read through the documentation and then signed to give him the go ahead to proceed with the consolidation.
A month later, I find that there is a deduction of R1000 from my persal and bank account, combined. My old policies were also still deducting from my persal. I called Xolani to find out why I'd had these deductions running all at the same time and he assured me that the old policies would soon stop deducting, it must have just been a delay on their side and I would certainly be refunded for those deductions. I relaxed, thinking it must be a month or two that will have double deductions, so even when it happened again the following month, I just informed him and he fed me the same story. It was on the third month's deductions that I realized I might have a problem, so I called him and he came to my workplace. I showed him my payslips and bank statement and he told me that he would need to go to the office an rectify whatever mistake had been made when consolidating the policies. He then proceeded to ask that I lend him R200 for petrol because he did not have enough petrol to get to his office. I was so desperate to get the error fixed that I sent him the money from my bank account to his Capitec bank account. Using the same number I'd always called him on. He then left, never to been seen again.
I consulted with another Sanlam Sky broker, and requested that he get me the policy documents and when he did, I discovered Xolani had opened new policies and not consolidated my old ones, hence they were all running at the same time. There were even some family members of mine not covered in those new policies. He'd just left them out and had ridiculous cover amounts for the ones he did keep on. The new broker told me straight out that I would never get my money back, which by that month had been running for 7 months. He also told me that the system is not showing who processed that new policy's application, so I wouldn't get anywhere with claiming for a refund. HOW? HOW ON EARTH DOES AN EMPLOYEE PROCESS DOCUMENTS THAT THEY WILL UNDOUBTEDLY RECEIVE COMMISSIONS FOR AND NOT BE TRACEABLE ON THE SYSTEM? ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING Sanlam Sky must have a ghost capturing their data...
I then proceeded to have the policies closed on account of them being *****ulently opened. I'm almost certain Xolani wanted a higher commission and did not care how he went about it. I supp**** all my supporting documents along with the cancellation form.
I received an SMS informing me that Sello Ramokhotoane would be the personelle dealing with me on the investigation. I got a measly 2 calls from him over the course of 2 yrs and on the second call all he could tell me was that there seemed to be no foul play on their end. Documents for opening a new policy had my signature on them, not documents for consolidating existing policies... well Duuuuuurrrr Sello, that's why I cancelled the policy on grounds of it being *****ulently opened. I never signed documents to open a new policy.
That was the last I heard from Sello (over a year and a half ago).
I have since tried to get ahold of Xolani by going to the branch where he works, but his female colleagues hide him. They insist there is no one in their office by that name. This just shows me that Sanlam hires people of the same character and train them to ***** from the masses. I have suffered a lot because of the money Sanlam has taken from me. I've gotten into a lot of debt from taking loans to cover my shortfall and Sanlam couldn't be bothered. Do yourselves a favour and steer clear of SANLAM SKY!
