Sanlam Savings and Investment

Dear Hello Peter, <br> <br> I have a savings and investment account wit h Sanlam. <br> <br> I am a permanent resident in S.A for the pass 13 years, I went to study and work here. Due to my nature of business, I need to go to oversea for a year. <br> <br> Last week I have requested Sanlam to cancel my account because I am not sure will I be coming back to SA after a year or not. <br> <br> Long story short, Sanlam gave me a list that I need to provide (the usual document like ID copy, proof of address, etc) which I have provided them. Today, they gave me a call and asked them is that a proof that I am a permanent resident ? My ID copy will be the proof isn't it and then they said because on my ID it says Non SA Citizen so I need to go to Home Affair to get a letter to state that I am in the country, I think this is non-sense as my ID is a proof that I am SA P.R and my bank account have proof my residential and I am in the country. <br> I seriously think Sanlam just want to keep your money and they use an \investment account"as cover. <br> Please be careful guys"
