Sanlam Reality & Sanlam Life Passing Responsibility While I Incur Bank Charges
I am extremely disappointed with the poor communication and accountability between Sanlam Reality and Sanlam Life.
I recently experienced an unexpected debit order issue where a collection was processed on the incorrect date, resulting in a failed debit order and bank penalty charges from ABSA (now exceeding R50+ and increasing).
When I queried the matter, I was advised by Sanlam Reality that the debit order automatically collected because my Sanlam Life cover deducted for the first time. However, my agreed debit date has always been the 20th of every month, and a consultant and my Sanlam Life cover advisor has now already changed it back to the 20th, confirming that there was clearly an issue.
What is frustrating is that Sanlam Reality refers me to Sanlam Life, and Sanlam Life refers me back to Sanlam Reality, while I continue to suffer financially due to internal confusion between divisions of the same company.
I would like urgent assistance and written confirmation regarding the following:
• Confirmation that my debit date is permanently set to the 20th of every month going forward. • Confirmation that no further premature debit attempts will take place. • Reimbur*****t or account credit consideration for the bank charges incurred due to this incorrect debit timing. • Evidence/proof that the agreed 7.5% discount/benefit has been correctly added to my May and June debit orders, as previously discussed. • Written confirmation that June 2026 will be my final Sanlam Reality collection, as I have already cancelled Sanlam Reality telephonically and via email during May 2026 and do not expect continued collections thereafter.
Based on my calculations, my normal combined premium should be approximately R696.30 (R407.30 + R289). However, the debit attempted was R682.40, reflecting a difference of only R13.90, which does not appear to align with the 7.5% discount/benefit that was communicated to me. Please provide a detailed premium breakdown for May and June, including clear proof of how the 7.5% was calculated and app****.
As a client, I should not be expected to resolve internal responsibility between departments. From my perspective, this remains a Sanlam issue, and I am requesting one accountable person to resolve this matter urgently.
I hope Sanlam will address this professionally and promptly.
