Sanlam, Please Get Your Act Together

PFAF for someone not on social media: Sanlam, as the #1 insurance company, please can you get your act together. In March 2020, I was contacted by the tracing agency ICTS and was told that I have been tracked down because I had monies sitting in the Sanlam Unclaimed Benefits Preservation Fund. This came as a complete surprise to me. I was then sent a letter from the Chairman of the Unclaimed Benefits Preservation Fund backing the ICTS bona fides. After this, I was given a phone number for the fund and was informed that I had a substantial amount sitting in this fund. I submitted the claim form ICTS provided and sent this on 8 March 2020 with all the necessary documentation. After submission, ICTS informed me it would take 6 – 8 weeks to process. My financial advisor and I then drew up a financial plan accordingly. Come mid-May, I received absolutely no communication from either ICTS or the Unclaimed Benefits Reservation Fund. Both my financial advisor and I have been contacting various departments at the Fund and no one could tell us anything or provide any updates. In desperation, I have contacted an advocate to act on my behalf because I am at my wits end with this. I have now been told that I claimed this amount in 2016. Please tell me how one can claim from this fund if they never knew they never had funds in this Unclaimed Benefits Preservation Fund? To add to this, Sanlam cannot provide any documentary proof of this so-called 2016 claim. Can you also explain how ICTS contacted me in 2020 – 4 years after the supposed claim. I have resorted to using social media for someone to provide some clarity or answers. Because this is getting absolutely ridiculous. How can a so-called reputable financial institution behave this way?
