Sanlam Official ill treated me a Tzaneen Office

I experienced a bad treatment at one of Sanlam Offices in Tzaneen. I visited Sanlam Tzaneen Office on the 27th February 2023 trying to enquire about my policies I have with them.

When I enter the offices at around 09h00 there was no one at the reception then I knocked in one of the offices where I heard people talking the gentlemen who was in the office with the name of Carvin Roux as per name that was on the table whom requested me to seat outside and wait for them to call me.

Within a minute ge called me in the office where I outlined that I need a profile of my policies and requested that he print them out for me so that I can be able to see when is the due date for cash back.

The gentleman was very rude to me where in he requested letter of Authority then we started arguing on the matter as I am still a life and was surprised why do I have to bring letter of Authority. To my knowledge letter of Authority is requested when one is deseased and the family members want to make a claim.

He raised his voice on me and indicated that if I do not bring letter of Authority I will seat in that office for the whole day without help furthermore he cannot loose his lisence because of People who does not want to comply with the law.

I kept on sitting and trying to explain the purpose of letter of Authority and my request and how they differ as I do not need to make a claim rather enquire on my policy.

He was very furious and requested me to get out of his office or else he will call security.

He further stated that I should go to a person who opened the policies for me to assist me.

I was frustrated because I went to the offices where I expect them to assist me as I do not know the person who assisted me to open the policies anymore.

I was disturbed by the treatment of Sanlam, such a reputable company which treat its clients with disrespect. I am paying my monthly contribution every month and that's the kind of treatment I get, I even felt that the treatment was because I am black. I am afraid my family members will be ill treated should I pass on as the same treatment was displayed to me while still a life.

My humble request is that Sanlam officials should treat us with respect and dignity as required by the Constitution of South Afruca as that was violated by Mr. Carvin Roux of Sanlam Tzaneen branch.
