In 2013 I took a funeral policy with Sanlam for my parents and parents in law. I was advised by the Consultant that, I am guaranteed a 12 months premium cash after 5 years, if I do not claim. In March 2018, I called Sanlam and spoke to the Consultant by the name of Nelisiwe Mlotshwa who advised me that I am due to receiving the cash back, but only in September 2018. She further advised that the payment will be made to my account which they are currently debiting the premiums from, hence will not require me to confirm anything. In September 2018, I called again and spoke to a different Consultant who alleged that Nelisiwe had provided me with false advice, including the Consultant who assisted me take up the policy at inception. The Consultant confirmed that they have retrieved telephone recordings and has confirmed that this was false advice. I therefore requested her to come to a sensible decision in this regard considering that they have raised an expectation and which has been confirmed to me by the Sales Consultant and again Service Consultant (Nelisiwe). To this end, I require your assistance that this is paid out to me as this “cash back” clause is the reason I took up the policy and again this was confirmed again in March 2018 to me. My current premuims for amount almost R700 for both policies and given this expectation, I continued paying my premuims and kept up tp date, only to find that i have been misrepresented.
