Sanlam Ignoring Clients While Paying Others – Shocking Service

I’ve reached my limit with Sanlam.

My claim has been sitting since February with little to no feedback, despite constant follow-ups. What makes this even worse? A colleague of mine submitted their claim AFTER me — through the same consultant — and has already been paid.

So what exactly is going on here?

To make matters worse, the consultant handling my claim (Ernest) has now completely stopped responding. No updates. No explanations. Just silence.

This is not a delay anymore — this is blatant disregard for a client.

How does a company like Sanlam justify ignoring one client while processing another faster under the same conditions? Where is the transparency? Where is the accountability?

At this point, I am preparing to escalate this matter to the FAIS Ombud and will be pursuing this until I get proper answers.

People deserve to know how they are treated when they trust Sanlam with their money. Right now, this experience has been nothing short of shocking.

I expect urgent intervention and a clear resolution — not more silence.

This is the exact response I keep receiving — “your complaint has been referred” — yet nothing ever follows.

No timelines. No updates. No accountability.

How many times must a complaint be “referred” before something actually gets done?

This pattern is misleading to the public. It creates the impression that action is being taken, when in reality, clients are left waiting indefinitely.

I want a specific update, a clear timeline, and direct contact from someone responsible for resolving this — not another generic response.

If this is not resolved urgently, I will proceed with formal escalation to the FAIS Ombud and continue documenting this experience publicly.

Hellopeter acts as a referral platform and does not manage investigations or timelines.
Your complaint will be reviewed once assigned to a consultant, and feedback will be provided. Complaints are handled in the order received.

This response is exactly the problem.

“Handled in the order received” — yet others who submitted after me have already been paid. So clearly, that statement is not being app**** consistently.

I am no longer interested in generic explanations about processes. I want:

- The name and contact details of the consultant assigned to my case
- A clear reason for the delay specific to my claim
- A definite timeline for resolution

Saying “feedback will be provided” without any timeframe is not a solution — it’s a delay tactic.

If I do not receive a concrete update within 48 hours, I will escalate this matter formally to the FAIS Ombud and continue documenting this publicly until it is resolved.

I expect accountability, not another scripted response.
