Sanlam Holding Pension Funds for two years, Arbitrator Ignoring Repeated Emails

We are members of the Sanlam Umbrella Funds whose employer, Khewija Engineering & Construction (Pty) Ltd, had contributions stopped. Sanlam confirmed in a termination letter dated 20 March 2024 that our membership was terminated effective 1 November 2023, and a liquidator would be appointed to release our funds.

We sent formal letters to both Sanlam and the arbitrator, yet to date, they have not responded. It is unacceptable that such a large company with ample resources would take three months to answer a single email, leaving members’ pension funds unreleased and causing financial hardship.

Sanlam’s termination letter states the process could take 6–12 months, but there has been no verifiable communication, no liquidator confirmation, and no progress updates. This is unacceptable and ********, and it shows complete disregard for members’ rights.

We are making this public to warn others and to demand immediate action.
