Sanlam have committed ***** and taken money from my account without authorisation AGAIN
Sanlam are the absolute epitome of a "couldn't care less" company. I switched to Discovery after becoming disillusioned with Sanlam. All was going according, the cancellations had been confirmed, my RA was going to be transferred to Discovery etc and then Sanlam decided to debit my account for premiums that they weren't entitled to since I no longer had any products with them. I made contact and was told, no problem we'll refund you. Trouble is, it takes up to 18 days to action anything in their world!! Luckily for me I wasn't in dire straights and could survive the month without my refund (which I am still waiting for almost 2 months later by the way).
I finally got an email to say they had deposited the refund into my account last week, up until now it's not reflecting.
That's not all.. on Friday night I was debited AGAIN! an entirely random amount in excess of R2000 which again, was entirely unauthorised and uncalled for since I do not have any policies with Sanlam. I logged a ticket with them and am now again told that I will only see my refund by the 18th of September. How is this legal? How does this even happen? I am out of pocket and they are earning interest on money that they have effectively ****** from my bank account! If you call in you can only speak to a robot or die waiting for an actual agent to speak to.
Get your acts together Sanlam!

I got a call this morning from the complaints department. They’ll process the refund on Friday (cause they have to wait to see if the money they stole actually clears ..) and then it’ll take 3 to 4 working days for it to clear into my account 🙄. So I only get MY money back next week 😡.
Excuse was that the transfer of funds to discovery was only finalised this week so the debit order wasn’t unticked yet. To me this is 2 separate issues, the policy is cancelled, you untick the debit immediately! The transfer could take weeks, deal with that on its own!! In a nutshell, getting my refund but will never ever refer anyone to Sanlam ever again. Utterly useless.
Thank you for the call... but yeah I'm not happy. Look at your processes, make some changes that suit your clients and not just yourselves and then maybe I'll change my mind about you. Can you imagine someone taking R2.5k from the head of finance's account, then telling them they can only get it back 2 weeks later... just someone forgot to untick the boxes.. You may have processes but those processes are archaic and don't benefit the customer, your bread and butter. Let that sink in.
