Sanlam - Big Business Bureaucracy
I have an existing life policy number ***X0. Premiums are deducted every month. Due to the effect of Covid 19 on my income, I obtained a quote from my broker to reduce the premium and the sum assured. I signed the quote and in the debit order space I wrote “See your records”. Sanlam requested me to sign the debit order mandate (again) otherwise they would not process my request. I told them that they are asking me for information which is already on their books. I advised that I do not have a printer and scanner at home and am recovering from major surgery, not driving yet. Sanlam advised that the signature is required in terms of Regulations. I asked for a copy of the Regulations which require me to provide information they already have. Sonja Herbst of Sanlam sent a copy of the PASA rules and I pointed out that it related to alterations of new business and does not apply to alterations of an existing policy. I requested a complaint number which I did not receive. I signed the debit order (again) to preserve my policy but am really unhappy about it as it is typical bureaucratic big business shunting their clients around.
