SANLAM
SANLAM Centurion Provident Fund 2% scheme Hellopeter I use to work for City of Tshwane Centurion Electrical department for 32 years. I became ill and was diagnose with Parkinson. On 31 July 2018 was my last working day, I was claimed medical unfit to carry on with my work (Electrician Foremen). Centurion Council enforced a SANLAM Centurion Provident Fund 2% scheme unto his employers. We had no say into this fund (this was part of the package). When it was time for SANLAM to pay out the benefits of the scheme, that’s where the problem started. SANLAM is supposed to pay a lump sum and three times your yearly salary before your retirement date (60 according to the Fund) if you are medical unfit. I was 62 when this hazard stuck me. In this two years SANLAM did not informed me that monthly payment is going to stop, they kept on deducting the monthly payment till my last salary from City of Tshwane (by carry on with this monthly deducting, SANLAM declare that they are okay with the terms and conditions till 65?) . All my collages from Centurion was under the same impression as me that this “Fund” pay out at 65. SANLAM paid only the lump sum, but the “RISK” part of the Fund, they refuse to pay. According to SANLAM they are only the administrator, the say leis with the Trustees appointed by Centurion. I got an e-mail on 17 October 2018 from the Trustees that SANLAM must do the payment of the “RISK”. Still SANLAM refuse to do the payment. Sanlam is bloot die administreerder van die Fonds en die werkgewer het namens die werknemers die Polis by Sanlam uitgeneem, dus is die bepalings in die polis met die werkgewer ooreengekom.
