Sad how far Sanlam has fallen in customer service.
Well, I app**** for a loan at the beginning of December 2024, not a large loan, actually barely small. I have a good credit score and thought, as they advertised it takes 2-3 working days it would be quick. They say they will call you, as I opted to be called so I can discuss options etc. WELL, this is where it all started. I received a the first call only a week later and was asked to send some docs through and they would call me back. Another two weeks went by, no response. So I decided to call them and was abruptly told to wait for their call. So I waited. Mid January 2025, one afternoon out of the blue I received a call requesting a copy of my ID as the one I sent was apparently unclear on their side. Nonsense, I looked at the sent mail and it was fine and clear. I however indulged and resent it, more than once. Nothing heard for another month, I had already forgotten about it when I received another call, one afternoon mid February 2025, once again it was a request to resend docs. At this stage I was convinced they where just making random calls to make excuses for their blatant incompetence. I once again sent docs. As I was now rather frustrated with this fruitless exercise, I requested to either cancel the application or let me know if I was ever going to get this loan. I was told by the consultant that it would be paid that afternoon, she promised, as this was the last docs they needed for the umpteenth time. That was mid February 2025. To date 04/03/2025, I am still waiting for my loan I app**** for on 04/12/2024. I can only say WOW! Sanlam how far have you fallen, from a once prestige company to a shadow of what you used to be. I know you do funeral policies, so I should possibly apply now for a loan of my funeral, but running the risk of getting it long after I have passed away. Folks, do not bother with Sanlam anymore there have fallen in line with many other SA companies that have given up on life and joined the bad service industry. Sad, sad day.
