Poor service from Sanlam

Subject: Urgent Request to Cancel Education Plan and Stop Premium Deductions

Good morning, I am writing to request the immediate cancellation of my education plan with Sanlam and to stop all premium deductions from my Persal salary.

Despite my request for cancellation, deductions are still being made from my payslip. I requested that Sanlam must stop these deductions, but this has not been actioned. I am also dissatisfied with the excessive turnaround time for processing my payout.

During my application for cancellation I was initially told that the policy is registered in my ex-husband’s name and that I am only the payer. When I indicated that I would open a formal case, the consultant placed me on hold for about 30 minutes to investigate. Upon returning, she informed me that my ex-husband did not sign any documents and that only my signature appears on file. She then asked how it happened that he is listed as the policy holder.

For clarity, I completed the application form under guidance from your representative. I have never lived with my ex-husband, and he was not present when I took out the policy. I do not know how his details were used or how he became the policy holder without his signature.

I request that you: Immediately stop all premium deductions from my Persal salary and pay out the premiums they continued to deduct. Process the cancellation and payout without further delay. Provide written confirmation once this is resolved.

Please treat this as urgent. I expect a written response within 7 working days.

Kind regards, [Pamela] [***] [***]

Want me to make a shorter version for WhatsApp/email to Sanlam, and a longer formal version for the Ombud for Financial Services Providers?
