No empathy.

Good day Peter. I have a retirement policy ***X4 that I have been paying for the last few years.I went through a divorce were I has to leave my employment because of the impact of that.I have asked Sanlam to pay out that policy as I have been unemployed now for almost a year .They made the policy paid up but was advised that they will pay out when I am 55 in which I might ha e forgotten about such a policy.I have even taken this to the ombudsman and I have been waiting for a response now for almost 2 months with no feedback. I sent all document and advised them I need that money because I am in arreas with my bond,my accounts and cant even buy food or essential things for my kids that is staying with me. I have even pleaded for them to even pay a portion so I could just ensure food and other things are sorted ,yet no empathy at all. With the lockdown ,I cant buy hand sanitizer because I dont have and been asking here and there for assistance yet this is my money that I have been paying for 10 years and refuse to give what is mine. My situation has change as I did not ask to be in this position ,but I am and I need those funds so atleast maintain things at home . I even pleaded with them to please just pay as I need this as I would not have asked but my situation is so urgent and desperate that I have really no other options as i dont have funds at all. I need some intervention please because i cant wait till 55 as we need it now to ensure we have a home and food . Please I need help really. This has been going on now for over few months were I have pleaded with Sanlam and 2 months almost no feedback from ombudsman . I cant even buy electricity, that is how bad my situation is at the current moment as I am applying for jobs and it is slow. Please can you assist in this regard Regards

Dear Randal

We have been informed that  one of our consultants has already explained the situation to you  previously and we abide by the feedback. The matter was sent to the PFA and they will adjudicate on the matter.

We have sympathy for your plight but we are simply not allowed to action your request due to our current legislation.

I was never called but emailed .I am so disappointed and disgusted in a time like this that I have to fight for my own money.
Sad to say as I have been Sanlam client for over 20 years and this is the first time that I am actually disgusted to call.myself a client.
It is two months going and I have not even received a response from the PFA and I have not even received a response as documents has been sent.
I wonder what happens to all those unclaimed funds of clients who forgot they had retirement policies because they had to wait for over 20 years because circumstances changed that was never asked.
This is the first time I am fighting for money that is mine as I could have rather opened up a savings account knowing funds would be available to me.
Legislation can always be over written in exstemen situation as I am not going to let this slide because I worked my but of everyday and I am not going to give up .
I am going to use every resource available to ensure this gets out there.
