Money retension contract cancellation

When I took policy for retirement annuity they had said that when one is not happy with their product, the money will be paid back. However its a different story now. Sanlam says if one cancel retirement annuity policy with them they can only pay back the money after 55 years contrary to what they promised when trying to attract people into taking their policy.
