Misleading information from agents

I am very disappointed with the service I have received from Sanlam agents! I cannot believe how a company so huge and well known could be so decieving and lack so much integrity. An agent approached me in 2017 about opening a funeral policy combined with a savings plan and the agent said I could withdraw from the savings plan 9 months after joining and could withdraw yearly afterwards. Ncamisile who was the agent, made it sound so ideal to me because I saw this as a way to save for my children towards their school uniforms and stationery since I planned to withdraw the money at the beginning of the year. Late last year I asked the lady to check how much was in my savings as I wanted to buget for the upcoming school year and she informed me of the amount that I would be able to withdraw in January. I visited the branch in January to withdraw from my savings only to find that the money that was less that what the lady said I have available, half of my savings to be exact. I was not happy at all. I called to query this, I spoke to an agent who then told me that I am not able to receive all of my savings and he also told me that this savings is a 5 year plan and was only to withdraw only once after joining. This was new to me because the lady agent told me I could draw money yealy. Disappointed and irrate, I decided to cancel this policy at the Pinetown branch. The agent there made me fill out a form and she advised me to wait 48 hours and they will be in contact for any outstanding documents. I waited past the 48 hours, received a call on Wednesday to send through a copy of my bank statement, which they received because I called back to confirm. Was then informed that the money would be in my account in 24 hours. Friday I received a message saying I should fax through a signed letter confirming how they can assist me. I mean really I've been to the branch, why wasn't I informed then, I received messages requesting bank statements, why wasn't I informed in due time of other documents that was required from me. Why am I given the run around when I want what is mine? Why are we decieved into taking policies and not given the correct information, how is this acceptable, what kind of people does Sanlam employ? Do they only care about their commission and not being truthful to their clients? Many of my colleagues also joined this scheme, they all plan on cancelling after this ordeal. This not acceptable,we work very hard to provide for our families.
