Misleading and dishonest when dealing with estates

Please be warned when dealing with Sanlam. My parents who are married in community of property had a will and testament with Sanlam, it was advice that I be the co-executor for their estate as the estate is simple. After some emails between us, six months after my father passed, I asked Sanlam to renunciate themselves. We were simply told no, they will honour my father's wishes. They then continued sending emails to my mother, without including me, and blatantly ignoring my emails to them. Phumla Hlungwani simply ignores any emails from me, and went so far as to confirm that she has received the executor's letter but cannot assist me with a simply query. However, she has not received this letter from the master as yet. She then sent a letter with the subject line for a late Mr Parker, which is also not my father, and again ignored the email. I sent another mail asking if they would reconsider renunciating themselves because we have lost all trust and faith in Sanlam and feel that they are unprofessional. After speaking to the financial advisor, complaining about this and the fact that Sanlam has appointed an evaluator for the property and assests (Which we were told is only necessary once the master requests this), I was informed that Phumla simply returned the first mail where they declined to renunciate. This was not even bothered to be sent to me or my mother. My father's wish was also that my mother does not have to deal with these types of problems, yet they refuse to honour those wishes. No one at Sanlam bothered to call and ask why we are unhappy with the service and no longer wish to deal with them. None of the things my father wanted is what is happening and we feel mislead. Yet Sanlam stands on "hounouring my father's wishes". Sanlam is going out of their way to add to the bills, yet they have also not yet received a letter of executorship from the court. If Sanlam cared and had our best wishes at heart, they would have attempted to find out what the problem is. This is only about money and they will do what they can to make my poor mother pay as much as possible, when none of this was necessary. May I also add, this is only to mention a few problems. Sanlam is not at all honourable and I regret referring my parents to them in the first place.

Good day,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. However, your response just adds to our frustration and the fact that we find the service at Sanlam poor and regret dealing with Sanlam. Surely if you placed the ID number in your system you would have instantly know it is my father's ID, the deceased, as you refer to him. Would that have been so difficult to do? I guess it is much easier to revert back to me to do it for you. As the issue is with my father's estate, it would just make sense to provide you with his ID.

So please forgive me, that on top of everything that has happened, the horrible service and the fact that Sanlam takes over and makes financial decisions that would get me and my mother into huge financial trouble, and all of this without an executorship letter, and after deceiving us by stating they have received executorship, that I find your response patronizing.

Now that I have indeed confirmed that the ID Supp**** belongs to my father, who's estate we are trying to sort out, I assume we can get on with the matters at hand.
