Long Covid seems not to be covered and is definitely not acknowledge by Sanlam as illness

My brother has been an employee as financial advisor for Sanlam the last 4 maybe 5 years. He contracted covid during the epidemic and then went on to go for the “injections” He has since then never gained his health back. To the point that I insisted he go and seek medical advice. I can list the symptoms but that’s not the issue. Turns out he had some kind of heart failure. On several occasions we though he would not pull through. As an employee of Sanlam you would think he would have the company’s support when falling ill. Welcome to reality. His claim for critical illness was rejected and after 2 appeals he still has the same answer. Declined. Due to the fact that he was on the miracle drug that we had to pay his heart has improved, but is still not functioning 100% (legal terms available) His symptoms and health have got worse, and after more doctors and hospitals on our costs it’s been found that he suffers from Long Covid. His claim for disability has now been declined with the response that he can still continue to study as he does not suffer from brain fog!!! He actually does, but when not under stress its not that bad.

Really, his job is not to study, he should be selling financial products to customer in order to earn an income. So, Sanlam expects someone who can’t complete 3 sentences in any conversation without gasping for breath to meet with customers. How should he get to the customers? He can’t walk from the room to the bathroom without the sweat dripping from him and really battling to breath. Excuses from Sanlam panel doctor has been – Overweigh – he is on the same weight he was when he joined the company, prior to contracting covid. Sleep apnea – (how the hell they expect that to be the reason for his condition I just can’t explain) He has been using the expensive machine for more than 6 months and no change in his condition. Critical illness/Dreaded decease – when you suffer a heart attack and you recover – (you don’t pass away, not get better so you can continue with your normal life) Do you pay out or not? If not then you should not sell the product Disability cover – not able to perform your job or similar – If you can’t get dress without assistance, you can’t even walk from the bathroom to your room without having to rest and not being able to talk, please tell me how do you expect that person to go and meet customers???? Please explain that to me. So, this is what the huge company feels for their staff. No person in that company has made it their responsibility to take this case and work with it and Johan to get to some sort of agreement. Or explain the pathetic excuses for not paying. Simple question, is any long covid claims ever been paid? Was Covid not bad enough now companies are using every loophole they can find or make to not take care of the people who has always supported them. If Sanlam does not acknowledge that Long Covid is real or is debilitating then step up and tell the world it does not exist. Then the public knows Due to his health and financial challenges linked to his current condition he has become suicidal. Thus, his health is becoming worse by the day. This is not the first time we as a family face Sanlam and all their excuses. When my husband committed suicide, I was told he was one month short on the 24-month term and no money was paid out. I lost our house and much more. This time I will not sit back and watch how the powerful is misusing the power they have.
