Lack of transparency.

Two months ago I requested information with regards to my Disability Benefits which should be straight forward to answer. To day I get the response below, which is clear to me there is a motive behind Sanlams stalling tactics because I lodged a complaint against them. Good day, Mr Peters. Thank you for your email. As previously communicated, you have correctly addressed your concerns to the NFO, as the highest complaint authority. We therefore recommend that you direct all related queries to their office, for them to holistically manage your case. Kind regards, Disability Disputes Consultant Team Sanlam Corporate

Good day Andrew

We understand your frustration and would like to assure you that there is no intent to delay or withhold information.

As your concerns have been escalated to the National Financial Ombud (NFO), Sanlam is required to follow the official dispute resolution process. This means that all communication and case management now needs to go through the NFO to ensure a fair and independent review.

We acknowledge your concerns and remain committed to cooperating fully with the NFO’s investigation.

Regards
Sanlam Client Care

This complaint or request for assistance started more than a year ago.

I understand that the complaint is with the NFOSA, so they could have responded two months ago stating what you stated.

Sanlam has taken no action against my previous employer for their role in my complaint, which has two components, the incorrect contributions to my Provident Fund and the Underwriting discrepancy that had had an impact on my Disability Benefits.

Between the PFA, FST and NFO, action will be taken against the parties involved in terms of the Pension Fund Act 24 of 1956, Conduct Standard 1 of 2022, 13A of the Pension Funds Act and Section 30A of the Pension Funds Act.
