Irregular Policy Handling and Administrative Oversight – A Warning to Others

Review: I am extremely disappointed with how Sanlam handled my late father’s policies ) under the Estate of Mcviccar Minto Mkokeli (ID: ***).

Despite being a direct heir, I was excluded from the Letter of Executorship, and my proof of relationship, including an affidavit, was flagged and amended without explanation. This caused significant delays and unnecessary complications in accessing policy information.

What shocked me most is that the policies were cancelled on 6 October 2025, five years after my father passed away on 19 September 2019, and just two days after I attended the Master’s Court in Grahamstown (4 October 2025). Sanlam’s report says this was due to an “administrative oversight,” but the timing is highly suspicious and raises serious questions about the handling of these policies.

I hope Sanlam investigates this thoroughly. This experience shows a concerning trend of irregularities and poor administration that could affect other policyholders and heirs.

I am sharing this review to warn others and to urge Sanlam to ensure transparency, proper governance, and accountability in handling policies, especially after a policyholder’s death.
